Built in 1987, the home is valued at $2.4 million and the land at $784,400, according to the Fulton County tax assessor’s records. Akers also states that the real estate market in metro Atlanta for such high-end homes is continuing to improve, and that she has sold several million dollar homes without listing them. She says that these kinds of sales taking place indicated confidence in the Atlanta market.

Bernie Marcus’ net worth is listed at around $3 billion, according to Forbes magazine. Home Depot, the company he co-founded with Atlanta Falcons’ owner Arthur Blank in 1978, is now the world’s largest home-improvement retailer. Since retiring as chairman in 2001, Marcus has donated millions of dollars through the Marcus Foundation, including $250 million to open the Georgia Aquarium. He has also funded medical research, including opening Atlanta’s Marcus Autism Center in 2008 and donating $25 million to Boca Raton Regional Hospital, located where they now live, to open the Marcus Neuroscience Institute to help treat patients with epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis and other brain disorders.
