Henry County has many ways for residents to celebrate the red, white and blue today! Whether you want to spend the day at the park, watch a live concert, see short track racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway or watch fireworks with more than 6,000 friends, Henry County has it all.
The city of Hampton’s festivities will kick off with a parade at 10:00 a.m. at Hampton Elementary School. Once the parade ends, the festivities will continue at McBrayer Park, where you can find family-friendly activities and refreshments. The fun will include old fashioned sack races, three-legged races, hula hooping, a watermelon eating contest, horseshoes, corn hole and a water slide. The celebration is free to everyone, but the city is asking for donations in lieu of charging admission. All donations will go to Georgia Wounded Heroes, a state organization with roots in Hampton.
Later this evening, you can watch Thursday Night Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway, followed by a spectacular display of fireworks. Tickets are $6 for adults, $2 for children ages 6 to 11, and children under 6 are free.
Area residents can also celebrate Independence Day at Nash Farm Park, where you can play bingo; enjoy a car, bike and truck show; play on kids inflatables and dine on delicious festival food. Tunes by DJ Matticus begin playing at 1:00 p.m., and live music begins at 3:00 p.m. with Stevie G & The Rockers, The Mackey Creek Band and Cottonwood Canyon taking the stage. Fireworks are set to explode at approximately 9:00 p.m. Admission to the festivities at Nash Farm is $5 per person or $20 per vehicle with a six passenger limit.
