hot air balloons at sterling on the lakeThe 5th Annual Harvest Balloon Festival is returning to Sterling on the Lake’s Village Green in Flowery Branch, Ga. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014. Visitors and residents are invited to participate in family-friendly fall festival activities from 1 until 8 p.m. and to enjoy tethered balloon rides beginning at 5:30 p.m. All event proceeds benefit two local charities.

Saturday afternoon festivities include tethered balloon rides, pumpkin carving and painting, hay rides, hamster ball races, spider bounce rides and fun games. There will be live music, performances and craft vendors on hand, as well as edible treats from food vendors and carnival stands. In addition to Saturday’s festival, a limited number of balloon rides will be available Sunday morning so that spectators can soar securely above the community on tethered rides following the balloon launch around 8:00 a.m.

“This annual event is the highlight of the year at Sterling on the Lake,” said Jennifer Landers, marketing director for Newland Communities. “It offers a fun-filled day for our residents and guests while providing support to two great charities and inviting visitors to learn why we’re so proud of our beautiful community.”

While enjoying the festival, visitors are invited to stop by the ticket booth and register for a chance to win fun prizes including a hot air balloon ride. Attendees can also meet and adopt a dog at the Hall County Animal Shelter tent.

To support the community, the Harvest Balloon Festival will donate money raised from admission fees, activity purchases and balloon rides to the Hall County Animal Shelter and Challenged Child and Friends, an organization that serves children with disabilities through educational, therapeutic, nursing and family counseling services.

Admission into the festival is $1 per guest and parking is free. Parking is located at Flowery Branch High School at 6603 Spout Springs Road in Flowery Branch. Complimentary shuttles will transport guests to the festival. For a complete schedule and directions, visit or call 678-960-0232.
