The last few hours of the Halloween countdown has begun; preparation for a night of haunting is in full-swing as children and adults alike are finalizing their costumes, party arrangements and trick-or-treating routes. With only days remaining until the bewitching hour, zillow.com has been busy compiling a list of the top 20 cities for trick-or-treating. This year, city-dwellers will be proud to hear that prime Atlanta real estate has made the list.

According to the annual Zillow Trick-or-Treat Housing Index, Atlanta ranks number 15 on the list that also includes cities such as Seattle, Wash., San Francisco, Calif. and Portland, Ore.

It is a common belief that wealthy neighborhoods provide the most Halloween candy loot. However, to even the playing field, Zillow used four equally weighted variables including the Zillow Home Value Index, population density, Walk Score and local crime data. Based on those variables, the list of top 20 cities represents the locations where trick-or-treaters will get the most candy, with the least walking distance and safety risks.

According to zillow.com, expensive neighborhoods may hand out the best treats, but it’s the walkability and density of the neighborhood that is paramount to collecting the most candy.

Congratulations Atlanta and have a spooktacular time this Halloween. To see the ranking of all 20 cities, visit zillow.com.
