“Men men men men, manly men men men!”

Here’s some light-hearted, yet interestingly enough, still real estate-related news.

Atlanta area men…flex those manly muscles!

Metropolitan Atlanta was recently named America’s 23rd manliest city, up from 31st last year. This is according to a study by the quality of life researcher behind the popular “Best Places to Live” studies, Bert Sperling, and global chocolate selling leader, Mars, Inc. Chocolate North America.

The third annual COMBOS® “America’s Manliest Cities” study ranked 50 major metropolitan areas from manliest to least manly, compiling “manly metrics of each city like the number of home improvement stores, steak houses, manly occupations and motorcycles per capita,” according to a statement from Mars. “But just like a high concentration of construction workers can boost a city’s manly measure, an excess of cupcake shops and fancy furniture stores can hurt a city’s rank.”

This year Nashville ranked number one (for the second time in three years) and Los Angeles ranked dead last, unseating Portland, Ore., which was last years ‘Least Manly City.’

The study included personal rankings from a panel of 10 individuals that know manliness, the “Board of Manliness.” The panel included:
• Lou Ferrigno – American actor and bicep enthusiast
• Rollie Fingers – Hall of Fame baseball pitcher, also famous for his handlebar mustache
• Judy Gold – Stand-up comedian and actress
• Jack Passion – Two-time World Beard champion
• Sergeant Slaughter – Retired WWE wrestler and real life action figure
• Mike Sullivan – Professional lumberjack with 44 world lumberjacking titles

In addition to the public figures listed above, the Board of Manliness included four everyday Americans – a retired Navy Seal, a school teacher, a police officer and a mother of four boys.

This is good news for everyone, as we see it. If you’re a man looking for a place you’re certain to fit in, Atlanta’s the place for you, and if you’re a woman looking for a good manly man, Atlanta’s the place for you, too.
