Now more than ever, commute time to work is going to play heavily in your decision when buying a new home in Atlanta. You aren’t going to want to be living too far away from your place of employment in the off chance you are running late one day and hope to make up time by speeding on your way into work. Speeding is now a thing of the past for Atlanta drivers, at least in theory it is. For those that don’t know, the new Georgia Super Speeder Law went into effect on January 1, 2010.

Now, if you get a speeding ticket on the Interstate and you are going over 85 mph, then you will have an additional $200 fine – notice the word “additional.” The $200 is on top of whatever the speeding ticket would cost you normally. If you get a speeding ticket on any two-lane road, you will be charged an additional $200 if you are going 75 mph or over. After you receive your ticket, the state will send you a letter notifying you of your fine. You then have 90 days after the letter’s date to pay the $200. If you choose not to pay this $200, you’ll have your license suspended.

Seems like Georgia is trying to crack down on speeders, and this is definitely an effective way to do it.

When looking for your new Atlanta home, remember these new provisions and choose a location that is convenient to work as well as other destinations that you frequently visit or maybe invest in one of the many live-work-play communities throughout the city that eliminate your need for a care all together. We don’t want anyone falling into this new speed trap and having to pay an extra$200 for their speeding ticket.
