Fulton County Arts & Culture Celebrates 40 Years of Creative Leadership

Founded in 1979, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners established the Fulton County Arts Council to enhance the quality of life of Fulton County Residents. Fulton County Arts & Culture Director Lionell Thomas joins co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick on this week’s Around Atlanta segment of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio to discuss the organization’s mission and upcoming activities.

“The most interesting part of my job is being able to juggle the creativity with handling the political part of the process and making sure that everyone benefits from arts and culture and has an opportunity to enjoy everything we have to offer in Fulton County,” Thomas said. “We have a wide array of arts activities going on.”

According to Thomas, the mission of the Fulton County Arts & Culture is to further the arts and culture in Fulton County. The organization’s job is to explore ways to improve the quality of life, using art as a conduit for making life better for residents.

Thomas explains arts and culture are important to the community because it connects us with one another. It helps people escape everyday life and fill a possible void while also preserving culture for future generations.

National Arts and Humanities Month is October 24, 2019, and to celebrate 40 years of creative leadership, Fulton County Arts & Center is hosting a variety of activities throughout the month. To explore volunteer opportunities or to learn more, call 404-612-5780 or visit www.FultonArts.org.
