AREF Aisha Robinson with Five Loaves Atlanta

healthy meal deliveryFounder of Five Loaves Atlanta, Aisha Robinson, is in studio for this episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick, the group discusses Five Loaves Atlanta and its mission to provide plant-based meals and everyday essentials to Atlanta’s homeless community on this segment of Around Atlanta.

Prior to Five Loaves Atlanta, Aisha Robinson experienced different levels of homelessness. After eight years of staying at hotels and living in and out of apartments, she was finally able to find a stable place to live. Realizing that she was able to make it out of her situation, Aisha made it her mission to help make life easier for those in the same position that she was once in herself.Five Loaves Atlanta Food Tray

The concept of Five Loaves was created when Aisha had the idea to host a vegan potluck for the homeless and low-income population in Atlanta. When nobody would commit to joining in, Aisha took it upon herself to cook and deliver 13 plates of food. Not long after, urban farms and a meal prep company began pitching in through donations. With these generous donations, as well as the help of her mom and two children, Five Loaves is now able to deliver an average of 200 meals a week to those living in low-income Atlanta neighborhoods.

Healthy Meals for Homeless and low income populationAccording to Aisha, one of the biggest problems many urban areas face is food deserts. Several communities within the city don’t have convenient access to large grocery stores where fresh and healthy foods are readily available. Plus, with MARTA not running as regularly due to COVID-19, many of the individuals living in these food deserts have to rely on nearby corner stores that don’t always have the healthiest options. For this reason, Five Loaves Atlanta is committed to providing healthy, organic and non-GMO foods that are both tasty and nourishing.

In addition to providing healthy and delicious meals, Five Loaves Atlanta also donates hygiene items, blankets, clothing and other everyday essentials. Aisha collects these items from local thrift stores, dollar stores and personal donations and keeps them in the car to distribute to those in need.Healthy Fruit Options for Homeless and Low Income Population

Due to the pandemic and current economic situation, there is an increased need for the food and essentials that Aisha and Five Loaves Atlanta provides. For those interested in donating, contact Aisha via email at arobinson@fiveloave.com. All physical donations can be picked up in a contactless fashion to ensure safety for everyone involved.
