Potres at Heron PondWindsong Properties is excited to announce the first homeowners to close at its newest community. From the start of construction, Heron Pond in Woodstock has been attracting active adult buyers that want to stay in the area and near family, friends and local amenities. That was definitely so with pioneers Sandy and Bruce Potre.

The Potres started searching about a year-and-a-half ago but wanted to stay close to where they lived in East Cobb. “Though too far out for us, we were impressed by the Windsong homes in Powder Springs and Dallas,” explained the couple. “We lived for 29 years in a large multi-level home with miles of stairs and were ready to downsize. After cleaning up piles of leaves and pulling weeds for all those years, we were done and wanted a low maintenance lifestyle!”

Then, a friend told the Potres about Windsong’s new community off Highway 92, and they were immediately excited to build. The couple registered for the community email updates that started about seven months before sales began. They attended the first VIP Preview in February of 2014 and entered the lottery to be selected for one of the first home sites. At the time, there was not a model home to view, but after touring the other Windsong communities, the Potres were confident with the quality, the team and their decision.

In early March, the Potres were under contract and very excited. “We chose the Carson plan because we could envision ourselves living in this open, single level home,” they explained.

Their priority was to stay close to their family. “We have four grandchildren that rotate visits with us every weekend, and this plan has a private suite for them with a separate powder room for guests,” they continued.

The Carson floor plan has 2,478 square feet with two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. Interior highlights include a gallery foyer, gourmet kitchen with large island and separate drybar, great room with fireplace and dining area, a spacious owner’s suite with two oversized walk-in closets, a guest suite with private bath, a retreat, a study that can be used as a third bedroom and a private courtyard. “Windsong worked with us to change our courtyard patio into an airy sunroom, expanding our indoor living area,” commented the Potres. “We still have room in our courtyard and plan on adding some pavers and plants this fall.”
