• Broadway Diner. Generous with their portions and offering any type of food you could want, this diner is one of Fayetteville’s hidden gems. Menu items include turkey Reuben, country fried steak dinner, spinach and cheese ravioli, baby back ribs and Greek Gyro.
• Franks at the Old Mill. Perfect for a family meal or a romantic dinner, Frank’s has been ranked in Atlanta’s Top 100 Best Restaurants. Favorite items include manicotti Florentine, Frank’s chop steak, fried grouper, Greek salad and zuppa di giorno.
Entertainment and Recreation
• McCurry Park. Open from sunrise to sunset every day, this park includes soccer fields, paved trails, tennis courts, a disc golf course, playgrounds and picnic tables. It definitely has plenty to keep the family active!
• Whitewater Creek Country Club. As a part of the Flat Creek cluster of Canongate Golf Clubs, Whitewater Creek Country Club is popularly known among Atlanta golfers. This 18-hole championship course is a favorite. Surrounded by giant oak trees and perfectly groomed greens, any golfer is sure to enjoy their round.
• Fun Junction USA. With the reputation of the third largest amusement park in Georgia, it’s a good time for the whole family. The park features three mini gold courses, go cart tracks, a giant zip line, giant swing, mini roller coaster and more.
• Lake Horton Park Trail. This paved three mile trail is great for hiking, walking and getting in touch with nature. It features an amazing view of Lake Horton and is perfect for a family hike!
Historical Attractions
• Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House. This home is named after its three main owners: John Stile Holliday, a doctor and uncle of the recognized “Doc” Holliday, Solomon Dawson Dorsey, a Confederate colonel, and Robert E. Lee Fife, a member of the last family to live at the house. Established in 1855 by the Holliday family and the first historic museum in Fayetteville, the house exhibits memorabilia related to the city.
• The Fayette County Margaret Mitchell Library. Structured in the 1920’s by the Fayette Woman’s Club and established in 1948, this library is the home of the Fayette Country Historical Society. It houses Civil War and genealogical records.
• Fayette County Courthouse. Built in 1825 and known as the oldest surviving courthouse in Georgia, this historical building sits in the center of the Fayetteville town square and is home to the local chamber of commerce.
• Mural in Downtown Fayetteville. This beautiful and locally well known mural was painted by Edwin and Patsy Gullett, dedicating the art to The City of Fayetteville Mainstreet Committee and to all citizens of Fayette County on May 22, 1993.
