Summer is a popular time for moving; the kids are out of school, so it’s a great time to settle into a new home and community. While decorating your new place, why not add a touch of easy, breezy beautiful summer décor to your space? Here are a few ways to get the summertime feeling inside:

  • Use color: Create warmth in your kitchen by adding bright colored accessories such as placemats or ribbons. Or, add fresh flowers throughout the home.
  • Declutter: Clean up the mess and make your home easier to clean by removing pictures, collectibles and knickknacks from their various resting places throughout the home. Then, pick your three favorites and place them in a new spot to create a cleaner, simpler look.
  • Rearrange: If you’re looking for a dramatic chance, rearrange furniture or swap pieces from one room to another. While you’re at it, make sure your windows and screens are clean, so you can let the sunshine light up your new space.
  • Bring the beach to you: Is the ocean calling your name? Make your home feel like a seaside oasis by incorporating beach accessories such as sand centerpieces, seashell picture frames and beach scene paintings.
  • Change it up: Replace your heavy comforters and quilts with light, cotton ones. Bring a splash of summer to your bathroom by mixing and matching bath towels with summer shades such as orange, light blue, light green and light pink. You can also add summer-scented soaps and candles to bring the smell of summer into your home.
