Both children and grownups alike that are fans of trains, history and a good story will enjoy the annual Trains, Trains, Trains event that is being held next Saturday at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History.
This family-friendly event features train crafts, operating model trains and tips and techniques for building your own model trains at home. Children will also enjoy interactive activities, hearing railroad music and visiting vendors that will be selling a variety of train related items.
In addition to the event, visitors can explore the museum’s permanent exhibits to learn about the General, a locomotive that was involved in the Great Locomotive Chase, one of the Civil War’s most thrilling events. The museum also includes a full-scale replica of Glover Machine Works, a locomotive factory in Marietta that helped to rebuild the South after the war.
The Trains, Trains, Trains event will be held Saturday, Jan. 25 from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors, $5.50 for children ages 4 to 12 and children 3 and under are free. The museum is located at 2829 Cherokee St. in downtown Kennesaw.
