The United Methodist Children’s Home Teaching Kitchen is in need of your help. Due to deteriorating cabinetry and kitchen tables, limited cooking space, lack of refrigeration and proper appliances, the children at the UMCH Decatur campus cannot use the kitchen.
Once the renovations are completed, volunteers and UMCH staff will conduct cooking sessions for children age 11 to 18 who are enrolled at UMCH. This teaching kitchen is an important and necessary project because it will assist in the instruction of an essential life skill that these children might not have been exposed to otherwise.
However, this task is too large for UMCH to complete on its own. This project needs your aid. Volunteers are needed for demolition, as well as donations both large and small to jump start this program. From over-the-stove microwaves, refrigerators and dishwashers to paper towel dispensers, pot holders and cooking utensils, donations of all size are appreciated and will go a long way to improve the lives of these children.
You can help provide an outlet for the enrichment of young children. For a full UMCH wish list of items for the Teaching Kitchen project, visit the website or like the Facebook page. We hope the Atlanta real estate community will be behind this project and help out.
