All over the metro-Atlanta area, cities are lighting up with their annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies and holiday celebrations. In Kennesaw, residents are invited to join the Mayor and other city officials on Thursday, December 3 at 6 p.m. for holiday choral music performed by St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and sing-alongs, while enjoying warm beverages and holiday cookies.

The city of Marietta will be holding their annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration in Glover Park at the Marietta Square on December 3.  Local School choruses will perform Christmas carols and children will be able to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the gazebo. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and Santa will light the giant Christmas tree, donated by Big John’s Christmas Trees at 6 p.m. Parking for this night of fun will be available in the Cobb County Parking deck. Handicapped parking will be available to all those who are in need.

Vinings residents head over to Vinings Jubilee on December 3 from 6-8 p.m. for the 2009 Christmas Tree Lighting. This holiday spectacular will feature holiday music, pony rides, the Vinings Express, face painting and balloon twisting! Come on out for the sounds of the season, holiday treats, reindeer pony rides, and magic tricks from Santa himself.

Acworth residents might want to take their families over to the Depot in Downtown Acworth on Friday, December 4 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. Mayor Tommy Allgood will read T’was the Night Before Christmas and the Claus family will be there for pictures. Appointments will be taken for pictures with Santa beginning at 5:15 p.m. at the Depot. Spots are limited so make sure you arrive early to schedule your picture time.

If you live in Norcross head over to Thrasher Park on December 4 at 7:00 p.m. Live choir music will be performed and Santa will be there to say hello to all of the children. There will also be free carriage rides in downtown Norcross, making for a beautiful winter night for the family.

Powder Springs is mixing things up this year. In addition to the annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree, set for December 5, all area youth groups are invited to participate in a Festival of Trees. Youth Groups will have the opportunity to decorate a Christmas Tree in the Historic Town Square. The prizes for the top trees will be awarded during the Annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree.

Alpharetta’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration will take place on December 6 at 5 p.m. at Historic Downtown Alpharetta. Live music and dance performances will kick off the evening and Mayor Arthur Letchas and his wife, Sally will read a classic Christmas Story. In addition, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be coming on a firetruck to visit and take pictures in the gazebo. Hot chocolate, holiday crafts, horse and buggy rides, holiday carolers and elves will all be at the event as well. This annual holiday celebration was selected as a top 20 event by the Southeast Tourism Society, so you don’t want to miss out!

Saturday, December 12 from 2-6 p.m. residents of McDonough might want to check out the festivities at Heritage Park where Santa will be for pictures. With sleigh rides, children’s activities, food and live entertainment, this event is sure to be fun for the whole family. You’ll also have the opportunity to sign cards and banners for our troops and decorate a Christmas cookie.
