Award-winning David Weekly Homes Atlanta Division hosted a school drive to support Mimosa Elementary in Roswell.
Ever since its launch in Houston, Texas in 1976, David Weekley Homes has prided itself on being a leader in volunteer and philanthropic efforts within the home building industry. Through company earnings and The David Weekley Family Foundation, more than $250 million has been contributed to local and national charities over the last 30 years and more than $600,000 in 2021 alone. By uniting its Team Members with an extended family of Homeowners, Homebuyers and community partners, it seeks to improve lives through the efforts of its CARE program. In 2021, team members volunteered 7,638 hours, impacting 451,189 people nationwide. In August 2022, the Atlanta Division for the national homebuilder donated more than 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to Roswell’s Mimosa Elementary – where 89.2% of its student population qualifies for the free/reduced lunch program.
“While this is an impactful initiative we are proud to take part in each year, the Back-to-School drive was particularly successful this year. Our online Amazon wish list component made it easier than ever for our Team Members, Homeowners, Homebuyers, vendors and agents to take part,” said Adam Cornett, Atlanta Division President for David Weekley Homes. “By adding it to the mix of community drop-off locations, we enhanced our donations by 4,654 items totaling $4,464.70 through Amazon alone. All told, we delivered 320 backpacks loaded with school supplies that surpassed last year’s donations three times over, allowing us to impact even more young learners than ever before. We wish the students of Mimosa Elementary a happy and successful school year!”
In addition to the Amazon Wish List, the Atlanta Division invited caring individuals to drop off donations at select communities throughout metro Atlanta. Those communities included Heritage at Towne Lake and Glenhaven at Ridgewalk in Woodstock, The Retreat at Sterling on the Lake in Flowery Branch, and Ashbury in Alpharetta. The home builder’s Back-to-School Drive was observed in all 19 divisions throughout the U.S. Each year, it serves as a glowing reflection of the David Weekley Homes CARE credo to remain: Committed to Building Community Character, Active in our Community, Responsible to our Community, and dedicated to Enhancing our Community.
