Homeowners at Soleil Laurel Canyon love a little friendly competition, especially when it comes to tennis. This month is one of the biggest tennis events of the season at the Canton active adult community, where players will don colors of their favorite NFL teams and battle it out to the finish in a rousing team format.

Tennis is one of the most popular activities at Soleil Laurel Canyon, in-part because of the top-notch tennis facilities. The tennis center is located just behind the clubhouse and features eight courts. Six courts are Har-Tru clay hydro courts, while two new courts are comprised of color-coated US Open deco surfacing, allowing residents to now play in the winter months. Soleil homeowners enjoy shaded pavilions as well as water coolers on the courts. The pro shop offers ball machine rental, tennis racquet restringing and regripping as well as all basic tennis accessories.

Soleil Laurel Canyon also boasts a full-time onsite tennis pro, Tom Cobb. He is a USPTA Certified Tennis Professional, and is a two time USTA National Doubles Champion. and has held rankings as high as No. 2 in the country and No. 1 in the south in doubles. He has been at Soleil since March 2007 where he is very hands-on in every aspect of the tennis programming, coaching Soleil’s ALTA teams, teaching private and group lessons and running weekly drills for all levels of play. Cobb also has weekly drop-in round robins and organized monthly tennis socials, like the scrimmage, included in the tennis programming at Soleil.
