It was purely by accident that Phil Cunningham and his wife wound up moving into Townview Commons. The little jewel of a community is tucked onto a quiet street just minutes from the busy Highway 92 in Woodstock where it’s easy to overlook.
“My wife stumbled across it; even our real estate agent, who knows pretty much everything being built in this area, didn’t know about this little pocket of homes,” said Cunningham.
The quaint development of 33 Traditional homes priced from the $170,000s is being discovered by buyers who are looking for less yard work and more manageable floor plans. The community offers several designs from 1,400 to 2,200 square feet on lots no larger than a third of an acre that are cared for through the homeowners’ association.
“The smaller lots were perfect for us because we didn’t want to have a big yard,” said Cunningham. “We also really liked that there are only 33 homes close to the main street.”
The couple’s three-bedroom plan fit their space requirements as well, said Cunningham. “We didn’t want a very big house, and we wound up with about 1,900 square feet. We liked everything about it, especially the master bedroom that’s huge. We also made a ton of changes, like adding more hardwood floors, and the builders were easy to work with. It was clear they prided themselves on customer service.”
Townview Commons also gave Cunningham a short commute to his work at Woodstock Baptist Church about four miles down Highway 92.
“It was important to us not to be too far away,” he said. “Now, we can get there in seven minutes if we hit all the lights. There’s also good shopping and restaurants close by, and the entrance to I-575 is less than a mile away.”
Along with a convenient location, Townview Commons offer prospective buyers a number of designs with several options. The two-story plans feature either one or two-car garages, covered entries and three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. The main living areas have open plans that connect a family room, dining area and kitchen with access to a rear patio. Living areas have fireplaces; kitchens are equipped with maple cabinets, stainless steel sinks and breakfast bars. Master bedrooms have tray ceilings and walk-in closets and optional soaking tubs and sitting areas. Some plans incorporate foyers with hardwood floors and 2-story great rooms that can be reconfigured to create a fourth bedroom.
But it’s the coziness of the small neighborhood that has the most appeal, said Cunningham. “It has a very nice look to it, and it’s great that we don’t have to drive through a big neighborhood to get to our house.”
