Seville speaks on green building, remodeling and renovation, with a special focus on rapid and cost effective energy efficiency improvements. The owner of Seville Consulting in Decatur, Seville is an authority on environmentally sensitive renovation and its enormous energy-saving potential. He co-authored the residential green remodeling guidelines issued by the U.S. Green Building Council and the American Society of Interior Designers. The National Association of Home Builders twice named him Green Remodeling Advocate of the Year, and he is the recipient of more than 100 other industry honors. Seville founded and served for 25 years as vice president of SawHorse, an Atlanta design/build/remodel firm. While at SawHorse, he chaired the committee that launched the nationally noted EarthCraft House Renovation program under the auspices of the Southface Energy Institute. In recognition of his work, he was honored with the Southface Award of Excellence for Environmental Stewardship.
Now through Seville Consulting, he advises homeowners, contractors, and manufacturers nationwide. To smooth the pathway from green goals to built reality, he has developed a set of detailed job site specifications, and he helps others in the field employ specifications to build greener homes. He is a LEED for Homes Green Rater, and he also certifies homes under EarthCraft House, The National Green Building Program, and ENERGY STAR. Seville’s contributions have garnered extensive media attention. His recognitions include two National Green Building Awards for Residential Remodeling and six Excellence in Design Awards from Environmental Design and Construction magazine, which has often featured his work. He has held many leadership positions in his field, serving on key committees for the U. S. Green Building Council, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and for the National Association of Home Builders. He has served on the editorial advisory boards of Professional Remodeling and Atlanta Home Improvement magazines, and on the Georgia Governor’s Energy Policy Council.
