Captain Planet, the world’s first and only eco-superhero, turns 20 this year! It is hard to believe, especially since I can remember his birthday back in 1990. I was working in the PR department at the Atlanta Botanical Garden when he was born/ launched/ inked.  Anyway, in honor of Captain Planet Day, which is Sept. 15, the green super hero will be recognized at Atlanta’s City Hall on Tuesday, September 7 at 1 p.m. Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall will a proclamation to the eco-superhero.

Wednesday, September 15 has been declared NATIONAL CAPTAIN PLANET DAY by the Captain Planet Foundation (CPF). Everyone is encouraged to do something good for the planet that day.  What will you do to celebrate? Let CPF know on their Facebook page, send them a Tweet, or connect with other Planeteers at http://captainplanet.me. Use your personal power to help save the earth, to perform a green action and incorporate it into their lifestyle. Some suggestions from Captain Planet include planting trees, recycling, picking up litter, conserving water and volunteering. Better yet, gather with a few other Planeteers and get them involved in a bigger project. The power is yours!

Our team will be recycling, we recycle paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and more. Our goal is to continue to reduce the amount of waste that we put into the landfill.  Please comment and let us know what green actions you are taking.
