The Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council congratulates Traton Homes for winning a Gold OBIE in the Community Service category for Project Playhouse to benefit HomeAid Atlanta. Traton gives special thanks to Total Building Services Group, David McGee of Southern Design Concepts of Atlanta, Bridgette Boylan Interiors, Inc. and Ameriscapes Landscape Design.
Traton Homes aspired to create a playhouse that would appeal to the young and young at heart. Inspired by a captain’s love for his ship, the meticulously crafted Captain’s Quarters was filled with maritime features. The exterior showcased exquisite handcrafted woodwork, a cedar shake roof and siding, a stunning turret, a copper slide and a covered promenade. Windows featured flounder-shaped shutters, and the turret was crowned with a copper weather vane. The interior showcased beautiful teak woodwork, a fish bowl porthole, a lobster trap table and wooden pulleys. Reminiscent of a nineteenth century sailing ship, the curtains and prowl awning looked as if they were made from a ship’s sales. The turret galley featured a ship’s wheel dining table. In total, over 12,200 tickets were sold for an opportunity to win the playhouse, raising funds for HomeAid Atlanta’s efforts to provide temporary housing for the homeless.
