Alex Tetterton with SR Homes is this week’s guest on the award-winning Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio show. Alex shares SR Homes’ philosophy of servant leadership, and his interview is followed by a discussion with Erin Wilson from the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village.

Alex is the President of SR Homes, which is a home builder of semi-custom to full-blown custom homes all over the Atlanta area. A Georgia Tech graduate, Alex started his own company 10 years ago after working for other builders in the area. SR Homes builds anywhere from 100 to 200 homes per year and aims to provide lasting value to buyers.

SR Homes operates under a philosophy of servant leaders, because they believe that there are many good people who have fallen on hard times in the Atlanta area, and they try to find them to work for SR Homes. He believes that they are honorable people who have good hearts. Alex has followed the belief that if SR Homes is willing to serve their people, they will in turn serve SR Homes and their customers. Alex says they will never ask any of their employees to do anything they aren’t willing to do themselves. SR Homes knows that if everyone is serving each other at each level, then everyone works together better and that is visible to their customers.

SR Homes currently has many popular communities under construction all over the metro Atlanta area. In South Forsyth, they are building at Greystone Manor, a gated community with start prices in the high $600,000s. In North Forsyth, they are just days away from opening up their model home to the public at the new community of Williams Point. This neighborhood features large homesites, with plans ranging from 3,000 to 4,000 square feet. SR Homes is the only builder in Williams Point and they are very proud that this is the first community that they control.

Erin Wilson is a Board Member for Elm Street Cultural Arts Village and is also a realtor with Keller Williams’ Wilson Realty Group in Cherokee County. Erin has a background in theater, which led her to become part of the Elm Street group when she first moved to the Woodstock area.

Elm Street is a full-fledged community theater group that produces 14 productions annually, with some being written by their artistic director and some being adaptations of popular Broadway shows. Currently, Elm Street is performing the popular Disney musical, “Jungle Book.” Elm Street offers a variety of classes and events, including a summer camp program for kids that give them the ability to produce their own musical to be performed at the end of the week.

Elm Street is currently renting space provided by the City of Woodstock at the Woodstock City Center, but they have recently purchased a four acre parcel of land located in downtown Woodstock. There are two historical homes located on the property they will use and the construction of a new theater is included on their expansion plan. In order to help with their fundraising efforts, Elm Street is selling tickets to the VIP Grand Opening of the new Outlet Shops of Atlanta that will be located in Woodstock. Tickets are $10 with all proceeds benefitting the Elm Street group. Attendees will receive $250 worth of coupons for the shops, and will be able to shop on July 17 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., the night the shops open to the public.

With all this exciting growth in Downtown Woodstock, The Wilson Realty Group is currently very low on inventory and Erin says now is a great market for sellers in Cherokee County. They have seen a 12 percent increase in home prices since last year and sellers are usually able to get 99 percent of their asking price. Woodstock has proven to be a great market for prospective buyers because of the amenities of the downtown area, the great Cherokee County school system and the ability to buy great homes with plenty of space for reasonable prices.
