Atlanta Real Estate Forum Announces October Radio Lineup

Laura Capps and Carla Ruff are this week’s guests on Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Both Laura and Carla talk about what buyers of Atlanta new homes want these days including energy efficiency, quality and utilitarian spaces.

Laura Capps is the director of Residential Green Building Services with Southface. Laura shares with us some information about green building, specifically EarthCraft, and what it means for the Atlanta new home buyer.

EarthCraft is a program started by Southface in association with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association in 1999. This program is specific to the Southeast including Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Alabama and Tennessee, and includes several ways to measure the “greenness” of the home. EarthCraft is about affordability, practicality and actual field results.

Today’s Deal of the Day is from GAHomeForeclosures, and features two luxury home foreclosures in McDonough. Both homes are new construction and are priced in the mid-$300,000s. These prices reflect reductions of more than $40,000 since they listed!

Just like the name implies, GAHomeForeclosures is the largest listing site of foreclosures in Georgia. There are various categories you can search, but perhaps the most appealing is the new construction category which includes unfinished homes that GAHomeForeclosures have gone in and completed so that buyers can move in right away at a discounted price. Many of these homes even come with a warranty.

For more information about this incentive, visit the GAHomeForeclosures website.

Our next guest is Carla Ruff, sales manager with Peachtree Residential Properties. Carla has spent 16 years in the home building industry, with 14 of those years in new construction. She has seen a lot of home building trends, and shares some of her most recent discoveries with us. Currently, Utilitarian spaces such as laundry rooms, basements, closets and all the other rooms that make your home easier to work in are popular right now.

Carla goes on to explain that today’s buyer is expecting more out of their homes. There are so many options out on the market; buyers want a builder who distinguishes themselves with quality. This goes above and beyond normal building standards as buyers are moving more and more toward energy efficiency. Peachtree Residential Properties works hard to build quality, energy efficient homes for the Atlanta home market.
