This week, we interview Melinda Raines of Peachtree Residential Properties and Rebecca Chase-Williams with the City of Brookhaven! With Melinda, we explore new options for communities from Peachtree Residential and with Rebecca, we discuss what it is like being a new city and being involved in public office.

We start off with Melinda Raines, who tells us about how 2014 is going to be a big year for Peachtree Residential. She’s one of the newest members of the Peachtree Residential team, but is very excited to work at a home building company that has been in the business for more than 25 years. Building more than 3,000 homes in the Atlanta area, Peachtree Residential is looking to make a big splash in 2014 with the Canoe Club in Fayetteville, several communities in South Forsyth, a brand new model home at the Hampshires community in Milton and more exciting new opportunities, including a community on Lake Norman in Charlotte, N.C. Looking further down the line in 2014, Peachtree Residential will bring Hickory Crest in Milton, priced from the $700,000s; Hadley Walk in East Cobb, priced from the $700,000s and off of North Druid Hills Road, Briarcliff Estates, which will feature private luxury estates priced from the $800,000s.

Peachtree Residential is known as the can-do builder, and Melinda talks at length about how Peachtree Residential has a design center that is ready to help you make the choices you need, as well as flexible floor plans so that each home can be tailored to meet your needs. With additional options like structural changes and other customizations within reach, Peachtree Residential is ready to make your dream home come to life.

The show’s next guest is Rebecca Chase-Williams, City Council Chair for District 1 of Brookhaven. Rebecca is a former ABC News correspondent who answered the call to public office when Brookhaven began to move toward cityhood. She touches on the reasons why she answered the call and how Brookhaven is moving forward to keep residents happy and build a better community.

The City of Brookhaven became DeKalb County’s 11th city in 2012, and has a population of around 49,000. With better services, a new police force and an effort to improve parks and other community spaces, Brookhaven has grown substantially while lowering overall taxes more than a full mil.
