Terry Pylant and Lauren Rasmus are this week’s guests on Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Terry talks about Historical Concepts’ work on this year’s Southern Living Idea House, while Lauren, a local high school student, shares information about her recent home purchase.

Terry Pylant is a partner with Historical Concepts. Historical Concepts, a historical architecture firm, works on homes and buildings throughout the southeast as well as nationwide. Terry has been with this firm now since 1989.

One of Historical Concepts most recent claims to fame was their work on the 2012 Southern Living Idea House located in Senoia. Historical Concepts has worked with Southern Living on a number of different projects for many years, and they were chosen again this year to work on another Idea House in Georgia. This year’s project, the Gin Property, was a historical rehab and renovation. The house is actually so old that it predates the town, which has been around since the 1820s. Historical Concepts worked with the original construction and architecture to preserve and restore the house into a semblance of its original state.

For more information on this year’s Southern Living Idea House, which is now open to the public, or for more on the rest of Historical Concepts’ current projects, listen to the full podcast! For more information on Historical Concepts, please visit their website.

Our next guest is Lauren Rasmus, founder of Green Bean Homes. Lauren is a 15-year-old high school student at Riverwood High School where she runs track. What makes her different from your ordinary teenager though is she bought a house.

Lauren started Green Bean Homes after recently purchasing her new Atlanta home using inheritance money from her uncle. She said that her and her parents formed the company, so that she would be able to sell the house later on if she wanted to because she is still a teenager and by law, would not be allowed to sell it as an individual. Lauren says that working on this project with her parents was a fun experience, and she was glad she was able to use the money to do something that would make her uncle proud, instead of just buying a car or going on vacation. She plans on working with local college students to make the home more eco-friendly and to turn it into a great rental opportunity.
