We are focused on football this week on the Around Atlanta segment of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Go Dawgs and we love the SEC! Our guest is Marcus Margerum, vice president of marketing and communications with the new College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. Now open on Marietta Street, the Hall of Fame provides a wonderful experience for those visitors that love college football, as well as for families that want to experience an exciting Atlanta attraction.

Margerum describes the College Football Hall of Fame as being very different from any other hall of fame in the country. As an extremely interactive exhibit, each visitor’s experience is personalized to make it all about their favorite team. Upon entering, everyone registers their all-access pass, which allows the building to know which school you root for as you explore the various exhibits.

Visitors are first greeted by a three-story helmet wall that features helmets from all 768 college football programs around the country. As you enter the room, the wall lights up to display your school’s helmet, letting everyone know a fan is in the building.

The personalized experience continues as visitors wander through the exhibits, with school-specific information, images and videos being displayed at each interactive station. Fans can be assured that no matter what school you went to or which team you cheer for, there is something from every college football program around the country in the Hall of Fame. In addition, new football teams and information is constantly being added to the experience.

When asked why Atlanta was chosen as the location for the new College Football Hall of Fame, Margerum explains that the city has a strong tourist community, with more than 44 million visitors per year. Plus, more than six million people currently live in the metro Atlanta area. Finally, the South is considered the capital of college football. All of these factors combined to make Atlanta the perfect city to house the new Hall of Fame.

The College Football Hall of Fame is open Sunday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Tickets are $19.99 for adults, $16.99 for children ages 3 through 12 and free for children under the age of 3. In addition, seniors (65 and wiser), military members and students are $17.99, but these discount tickets can only be purchased at the box office.
