For its sixth year, the Atlanta Ice Cream Festival returns to Piedmont Park for a day of free family fun for the whole community. From 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on July 23, come enjoy America’s favorite dessert while also engaging in a variety of health and wellness activities, so you can learn how to maintain a well balanced lifestyle all year long.

Ice cream is of course the biggest draw to the festival with it being the featured treat, but there will be a variety of other foods and treats available as well. Live local music will fill the air as guests visit both food and non-food vendors and participate in activities that showcase how fun a balanced lifestyle can be!

In addition to the ice cream eating contest for kids and adults, guests can participate in the Boom Shock Fitness activity, exercise routines, yoga, hula hooping competitions, Frisbee toss and many more fun activities! The festival will also offer free health screenings to everyone in attendance.

The Atlanta Ice Cream Festival was founded to enjoy ice cream with the community, but also to bring attention to health issues. Each year the festival connects with a local non-profit to raise support and awareness for their initiatives, such as the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, For a Day Foundation Atlanta and LIFESouth Community Blood Centers.

This year, the Festival is set on fighting cancer. A close friend to the Festival’s founder is a mother of two currently battling liver cancer. The Atlanta Ice Cream Festival will be making a contribution to the family after this year’s event, but financial contributions from guests are welcomed.

Guests are encouraged to attend the Fight Cancer Walk before the festival kicks off. Registration for the walk is at 9 a.m. the day of the festival and the walk begins at 10 a.m. The proceeds of the walk will go towards the fight against cancer.

With 15 billion gallons of ice cream produced per year, America is the ice cream capital of the world. The Atlanta Ice Cream Festival allows the community to embrace that distinction. Take a day to enjoy everyone’s favorite treat while also learning how to lead a healthier life overall.
