MomoCon on Around Atlanta

Founder and Co-Chair Jessica Merriman and Co-Chair Chris Stuckey with MomoCon join the Atlanta Real Estate Radio podcast to talk about their upcoming convention, perfect for fans of anime, comics, tabletop games and more. Merriman and Stuckey join host Carol Morgan on the Around Atlanta segment.

MomoCon is an animation, gaming and comic convention that features vendor booths, celebrity guests, video game tournaments and a spacious free-play arcade. From May 26 to 29, the event is located at the Georgia World Congress Center in Building B in Downtown Atlanta.

This year, the event showcases double the space as in previous years, providing attendees with ample socialization space, more events and additional partners. An exciting feature, a stranglehold professional wrestling group is hosting live wrestling events all four days. The showcase also features a unique storyline and highlights 40 individuals. Classic wrestlers participating include Sergeant Slaughter, Kane and more!

For game fans, MomoCon is partnering with more groups to bring more e-sports and tabletop games to the event. Several e-sports teams will be present on-site with more tournaments and events, including the inaugural Mario Kart switch tournament. There is also more featured card gaming than ever before!

Stuckey said, “There are just new partners all around. The exhibit hall has significantly more people…[including] over 400 exhibiting groups in our hall. We have over 800 hours of programming content over the four days.”

When asked what cosplay attendees can expect to see, Merriman shared elaborate costumes inspired by Demon Slayer, Genshin Impact, Marvel and more are popular choices!

In 2019, the gaming section of the convention took up 100,000 square feet of space. This year’s event boasts 300,000 square feet of gaming space to separate each gaming distinction and decrease the overlap of crowds and noise. MomoCon 2022 features a tabletop games hall, digital gaming hall, hand-held lounge and an e-sports hall.

On Thursday, MomoCon is hosting a free Career Expo in the morning and afternoon. Organizers request that participants show up in business attire and sign up ahead of time to give an accurate idea of crowd numbers.

Stuckey said, “We try to stick to the idea that we are helping passionate people into careers that they really want to be in.”
