ArtsBridge Foundation

Watching a story unfold in the theatre is more than entertainment. Theatre is a unique, immersive learning experience for audiences of any age, but especially young children. Today on the Around Atlanta segment of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio, Sarah Clay Lindvall, Director of Arts Education and Community Outreach at ArtsBridge, joins us to talk about the program’s community and state impact, as well as the fun and educational upcoming events.

ArtsBridge Foundation is the arts education arm of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre dedicated to providing quality arts education programs for students K-12. With a background in musical theater, arts and performance, and education, Lindvall knows how important the arts and live theatrical performances are for young children.

A variety of programs are featured at the ArtsBridge Foundation to pave the way for students and families to experience and benefit from the positive power of the arts. ArtsBridge Foundation field trips at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre expose students to performances by Atlanta Ballet, The Atlanta Opera, Kennesaw State University College of the Arts and Global Stages and more.

The field trip season kicks off October 4 featuring Artrageous, a live visual arts performance on the stage featuring artwork that comes to life with amazing speed unveiling larger than life iconic artists. Also premiering throughout the year are hit shows such as Dance Theatre of Harlem, The Phantom Tollbooth, West Side Story and Beauty and the Beast. “The programs and events planned for this year are more robust than ever,” stated Lindvall. “We have 15 field trip programs this year and we’ve worked hard to create a curriculum opportunity for almost every subject that will allow students to have ties to school work and the performances.”

Aside from field trips, master classes are also offered at ArtsBridge that gives students the opportunity to work with professionals within the field while The Shulers, Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards, recognize and celebrate excellence in high school musical theatre. ArtsBridge Foundation works with the National Touring Shows that play at the Fox Theatre, to host the Master Class Series. Cast members visit Cobb Energy Centre and teach a two-hour Master class from the show that they are currently performing in. They also host talk-back session so attendees can actually hear from a professional working in the field about their life, how they’ve gotten to where they are and choices they’ve made along the way to help them be successful in the business.

The ArtsBridge Family Series, featuring one-hour performances that serve as the perfect introduction for children to the performing arts is also a popular event. Anyone can attend a show ArtsBridge Foundation show, all children and families are welcome. “Students can access elements that cannot be accessed in classrooms,” explained Lindvall. “The can learn to express themselves in new ways and learn new skills such as public speaking and team building. If they cannot attend a field trip through school, our family events are spectacular and great for bonding time.”
