Regional Partner of North Georgia Peter Michelson and Director of Market Development of Alair Homes Shane Duff are in studio today. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick, the group convened for today’s All About Real Estate edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio to discuss Alair Homes.
At the core, Alair Homes is a custom home and remodeling company. Started by a husband and wife in 2007, Alair Homes started off as a small, family-owned custom home building service. After a tremendous amount of success due to carefully planned project execution and transparency, Alair Homes grew quickly in the first year of operations. After the success of a third location ran by a friend across the country, the owners of Alair Homes realized with the help of like-minded and hard-working individuals, they could expand their company while also remaining true to the core values implemented at the beginning. In 2012, Alair Homes started to grow into the franchise it is today, expanding to eventually reach 94 offices, over 120 owners and over 500 project managers worldwide.
“That was the birth of Alair Homes as is it is today,” said Duff. “They realized we can really build this better together. Two minds are always better than one.”
The Atlanta location for Alair Homes is located in downtown Decatur. The Alair model has a project management focus at its core. This means the project manager leads the client through the entire process of project planning all the way through to construction. Due to the incredible focus on hands-on management, Alair Homes only builds within five to six miles of Decatur. This ensures that everyone involved in a new home or remodel project is easily accessible and available. In addition to the hands-on nature, Alair is also known for creating beautiful and unique homes.
“Every project we do is custom,” said Michelson. “Every client’s project is a prototype because we only do it once.”
In 2020, Alair is looking to expand its presence in North Georgia. Its goal is to identify three phenomenal builders who care about their clients, employees and trade partners and who embody “living better starts here.” The Alair team is looking for three builders who want to scale their business and join the franchise to better serve all of North Georgia. Because Alair represents it’s core ideals and motivations in every aspect of the home building process, finding partners is a selective process. While Alair is looking for three builders, they are also looking for more clients to bring into the mix.
“What is so unique about the experience our clients have at Alair is the client control process,” said Michelson. “Everything is fully transparent. We believe in the relationship with our clients and that the experience of building and developing their project is equally as important as the quality of the work and transparency that goes into it.”
