To be eligible for the list, companies must have headquarters in Atlanta and revenue between $1 million and $150 million. They must be at least 51% women-owned and show a two-year revenue growth of more than 50%. About Sales, Inc. experienced a phenomenal 289% growth in revenue from 2008 to 2010.
Founder and Broker Shirley Gary attributes this success to being able to reinvent the company to survive in an ever-changing real estate market, drawing on past experience and relationships with industry professionals.
“With the changes that have occurred in the housing market in 2008 and 2009 our approach was to expand our client base from developers only to include investors and banks that are working to market and sell properties,” she said.
In her real estate career, Gary started out as Sales Agent, promoted into Sales Management and on to Vice President of Sales and Marketing for some of the Southeast’s largest and most popular builders including D.R. Horton/Torrey Homes, Sharon McSwain Homes, Pulte Homes and Paul Thomas Homes.
She leveraged her 25 years experience in real estate sales and marketing in the Atlanta area to open About Sales, Inc. in 2008 starting with just three full-time staff members. The company has expanded across the Southeast and now includes 40+ agents and more than 300 listings.
