HomeAid Atlanta announced the recipient of its 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award at the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s (GAHBA) Installation and Awards Ceremony. This year’s winner, Monica Love Phillips of Bank of America, was presented the award in thanks for her many hours of outstanding service and dedication to HomeAid Atlanta.
In 2013, Phillips served on the committee for HomeAid Atlanta’s Essentials for Young Lives Drive for the second year. She helped organize the drive, involved new collection sites, gathered and sorted donations and delivered the items to organizations in need around Atlanta.
In addition to her time on the Young Lives Drive committee, Phillips volunteered for a HomeAid Care Day with Bank of America and helped with the GAHBA’s casino night and silent auction, which benefitted HomeAid Atlanta. Phillips also assisted at the Awards and Installation Ceremony.
Monica Love Phillips has been with Bank of America since 2007, where she works as an Assistant Vice President and Portfolio Management Officer for the bank’s home builder division.
In addition to the Volunteer of the Year award, HomeAid Atlanta presented the 2013 Builder of the Year and Trade Partner of the Year awards. The recipients, which are nominated by the HomeAid Atlanta board of directors, are knowledgeable and passionate about HomeAid Atlanta’s mission and are committed to improving Atlanta’s homeless crisis.
Dale McCain-Boyd, the 2014 president of HomeAid Atlanta, said that “It is both a privilege and an honor to recognize our award winners for their selfless and generous contributions, and we are so grateful they chose to make a difference through HomeAid.”
HomeAid Atlanta was founded in 2001 as a nonprofit organization working in partnership with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, and it is a local chapter of HomeAid America, a leading national provider of transitional housing for the temporary homeless. HomeAid builds new lives for homeless families through housing and community outreach. HomeAid Atlanta has completed more than 20 community service projects through the HomeAid Cares program that benefitted local agencies who serve the homeless. In addition, 16 housing developments have been completed that serve the temporarily homeless, including victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, abused and abandoned children and homeless families.
