World-Renowned Golf Course Designer Sets Sights on Georgia Mountains

World-renowned golf course designer, Denis Griffiths, recently purchased Blairsville’s newest golf course. Old Union at Owen Glen is tucked away in a beautiful natural valley setting in Union County. Griffiths has designed over 100 golf courses all over the world including in England, Spain, South Africa and Japan.

Griffiths plans on bringing his experience of designing golf courses in Scotland to the Old Union course by leaving as much of the natural mountain setting as possible. Old Union will weave beautifully through the natural meadows, creeks and woods which will make golfing more of a secluded and serene experience. A valley location will offer the relatively flat land that is preferred for designing golf courses and will also provide the rare opportunity to play the course on foot or by cart.
