Woodstock Named One of Top 10 Neighborhoods with Green Homes in US

Woodstock downtown condosDowntown Woodstock, a thriving community in Cherokee County, was recently ranked as the No. 6 neighborhood in the U.S. for green homes by Redfin, a popular real estate listing site. Of the many homes listed on the site that were located in downtown Woodstock, 31 percent had green features.

To compile the Top 10 Neighborhoods for Green Homes list, data scientists at Redfin searched through the homes for sale on the site to find those that mentioned green features. Green features included solar panels, low-flow faucets, energy-efficient appliances and dual-pane windows, as well as homes that had environmental ratings and certifications, such as ENERGY STAR®, “Built Green” and LEED. The rankings are based on the proportion of green listings out of total listings in the neighborhood from the past two years.

Located just northwest of Atlanta along I-575, Woodstock has become one of the more popular communities for metro Atlanta buyers to call home. The downtown area has undergone revitalization over the past several years, resulting in a thriving business community that is home to excellent shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities. Community residents regularly gather for fun events, such as Friday Night Live, the Woodstock Farmers Market, Restaurant Week and so much more.

Two other metro Atlanta communities were also highlighted for having a high concentration of green homes – Grant Park and Ormewood Park.

Historic Grant Park encompasses the area just east of the I-75/I-85 connector around Zoo Atlanta, as well as the actual park, which is the oldest park in the city of Atlanta. Named to the National Register of Historic Places, Grant Park includes part of Oakland Cemetery and shares the largest remaining area of Victorian architecture in Atlanta with Inman Park.

Just east of Grant Park is Ormewood Park, located just south of I-20 and bordering the west side of Moreland Avenue. This unique community is filled with a mix of Craftsman bungalows, quaint cottages and stately Victorian homes.
