WicksteadWorks Named EarthCraft Renovator of the Year

Congratulations to WicksteadWorks, a leader in green renovation, who has been named 2009 Renovator of the Year by Southface and The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. The Renovator of the Year Award identifies an EarthCraft House renovator that actively works to decrease energy in an existing home. EarthCraft House Awards, which are given annually, also honor developers, builders and manufacturers who have demonstrated their commitment to a healthier environment. A team of EarthCraft House judges selected nominees and ultimately the winners of this year’s EarthCraft House awards. All winners were honored earlier this month at the annual awards ceremony.

WicksteadWorks, and Intown Atlanta remodeler,  has completed a vast array of energy-efficient projects that maintain as much of the originality of homes as possible. They were also recently featured on Renovation Nation, a program on the Planet Green Channel for their techniques on rainwater reuse and innovative water conservation. They have even completed unique projects for unique problems such as making a home more livable for asthma sufferers.

If you have not heard about the EarthCraft House Program, it is a GAHBA program that was developed through a partnership with Southface Energy Institute as well as government and other industry leaders. It provides standards for comfortable, environmentally-friendly homes that will not only lower your bills but contribute to less waste. Since 1999, more than 450 builders have become members who have contributed to the 7,150 homes in the Southeast region that are EarthCraft certified.
