Village Green at Sterling on the Lake Honored for Outstanding Design
Sterling on the Lake, the award-winning residential community in Flowery Branch, Ga., has received a 2009 MALTA “Distinction Award” for its Village Green. The award was presented by the Metro Atlanta Landscape & Turf Association. The annual awards recognize Atlanta’s residential and commercial real estate professionals for landscape installations, maintenance, seasonal color, lighting, green innovations and community service.
The Village Green at Sterling on the Lake is one of the community’s focal points. Events are held throughout the year including the Life is good® Pumpkin Festival, “Songs 4 Summer” Concert series, outdoor theatre productions and many other special programs. Landmark Landscapes, who completed the project, created a natural boulder seating amphitheatre on the green and a free-flowing sidewalk that wraps around the entire area.
“Newland Communities is known for gorgeous landscape environment nationwide and that is certainly true here at Sterling on the Lake,” said Patrick Clark, vice president, general manager for Newland Communities. “We took a drought-ridden space and turned it into a lovely, peaceful area which our residents use regularly. The Village Green has become a central gathering spot for our community.”
Bobby Harmon, business development director for Landmark Landscapes, added, “We’re so proud to receive this award and look forward to more notable projects with Newland Communities. This project was especially rewarding because the Village Green is a focal point for Sterling on the Lake and is used by residents throughout the year, so it was important to develop the space wisely.”
The Distinction Award is given to projects that are superior overall and is judged on a number of factors including attention to detail, degree of difficulty, overall appearance and meeting owner objectives.
Congratulations Sterling!
