The Verdict is in!
Sound is OUT. Few of us want will admit it, but we all do it. We browse websites for personal use at work. That includes looking for a new house online. While sound certainly has its benefits with the correct applications, the jury is in when it comes to sound that automatically plays as soon as you hit a website. Guilty as charged. You immediately close the webpage and now Everyone in the office now knows you are slacking off.
When is sound appropriate?
1. When it is optional. Users can turn it ON voluntarily (not Off!).
2. When it is expected. For example when they click a link to “watch our video”, they expect sound.
