Support the Fix Housing First Bill
Last Wednesday at the 50+ Housing Council meeting, leaders in the Atlanta real estate market John Wieland of John Wieland Homes and Ian McCarthy of Beazer Homes were able to convince Senator Johnny Isakson to back the Fix Housing First Bill. He is now back in Washington, D.C., passing along the presentation to other members of congress and pushing the Bill forward. However, the responsibility of promoting the Fix Housing First Bill cannot be solely on Senator Isakson, so, we need show our support for this bill as well. Get on the phone to other elected representatives and encourage them to get behind this piece of legislation. Senator Isakson specifically said that personalized e-mails and letters really work, but make sure you keep them personal and aren’t just filling in the blanks on a form.
So, why do we need to get behind the Fix Housing First Bill? Well, the legislation would do just that - fix the housing market first. The housing market is the key to economic recovery - it produces more jobs; it puts more money back into the economy; it directly benefits other industries; and it will help families stay in their current homes. If we can give the real estate market a turnaround and boost consumer confidence in the process, the effects of this legislation will trickle down to other industries and we will be on our back to a thriving economy. So take action and contact your representative to let them know that they need to support this bill.
