Cobb County schools may be back in session this week, but summer fun doesn’t have to end just yet. Especially for the residents of Brock Built’s Mangêt community near the Historic Marietta Square.
Located just a short stroll or drive from the community, Historic Marietta Square is home to several special events and festivals this month. Mark your calendars to attend these upcoming events:
Weekend Farmers Market: Held every weekend year-round at North Park Square, shoppers looking for delicious fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and fresh-cut flower arrangements will find everything they need and more at this vibrant market. The Saturday market features more than 60 vendors with a variety of products that includes rare produce items, local honey, homemade soaps, decadent pies, and garden plants. You can even find tasty organic treats for your four-legged friends! Be sure to grab a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade as you browse from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and from 12 to 3 p.m. on Sunday (through November).
Live Well Marietta Yoga on the Square: Need to take some time during your lunch break to relax and unwind? The City of Marietta and WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center are excited to offer FREE Yoga on the Square sessions, held on the second Tuesday every month at Glover Park. All Marietta residents are welcome to come and enjoy this stress-reducing, energizing experience! Upcoming dates are August 12, September 9, and October 14 from 12 to 12:45 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the yoga session will be held in the Lawrence Street Recreation Center located at 800 Lawrence Street in Marietta. No registration is required to attend, but attendees must bring their own mats and equipment.
Glover Park Concert Series: There are still two more shows scheduled to wrap up this six month long concert series, expected to end on a fantastic note next month. On August 22, country music fans will enjoy listening to the John King Band and the Paradocs will be playing a variety of music at the final performance on September 26. Lawn chairs and blankets are permitted, but tables are also available for reservation online.
Marietta Art in the Park Festival: This can’t-miss signature Marietta event will be held Saturday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 1 and will feature 175 artists and fun things to do for the whole family. It has been ranked as a top 20 event from Southeast Tourism Society and also in the top 100 in the nation for classic and contemporary craft shows by Sunshine Artist Magazine. Aside from the many vendors, booths and boutiques, a street chalk art display will showcase the works of children ages kindergarten through 12th grade. To register your child to create his or her own festive piece in Chalk Spot, apply here by no later than August 15.
