Bert Thornton’s Success Tactics
“Easy to do, easy to not do”
1. ALWAYS take notes. Don’t try to remember things – because you won’t
2. Hang around the right people and listen to them.
3. Be honest.
4. Keep a great attitude always. “It’s the single most observed thing about you”
Ex. 6 months after you have gone through a crisis, people don’t remember the crisis, but they do remember how you reacted to the crisis.
5. Get up earlier than your friends and your competition.
6. Learn to say no. Learn to say, “No. I’d love to help you out but I’ve got something
else I need to do that would keep me from doing that. Hope you can find someone
to do that – real soon.”
7. Nourish yourself.
Body – Eat breakfast within 90 minutes of getting up. Always eat lunch. The body
needs fuel.
Mind – 1) Read everyday. 2) Never underestimate the value of repeating the same things over a long period of time. 3) Be a good listener
Soul/Spirit – Take time at the end of every day to pray – be grateful
8. Learn to manage your time.
Set goals – know where you want to go. Define your purpose in life. How can you
achieve your goals if you have not set them?
Learn to avoid distractions – don’t major in minor affairs. Have an action plan. Have
a to do list everyday.
9. Give away the credit and take all the blame. This is what leaders do. Followers
don’t do this.
10. Give away anonymously things of value.
