Start of the Spring Market Hinges Upon a Shadow

groundhog dayWill he or won’t he? This is the question on everyone’s mind on February 2 as we wait anxiously to see whether or not Mr. Groundhog will see his shadow, which signals when spring will come. Either way, spring will soon be in the air, and with it the home buying frenzy that typically goes along with this time of year. Sellers and buyers are often more motivated during the springtime to clean up and move out of their former homes to make fresh starts in new Atlanta homes.

If you just can’t wait for the news reports to tell you the verdict, you’ll want to check out these Groundhog Day events in the area:

General Beau Lee – The Yellow River Game Ranch, located near Stone Mountain, is the home of Georgia’s famous furry friend ‘General Beau Lee’ the groundhog. Beau will make this year’s weather prediction on Saturday, February 2, 2013 just before 8 a.m. while his fans and supporters watch. Admission to see Beau’s predication first-hand will be FREE between 7 to 7:30 a.m.

35th Annual Groundhog Day Jugglers FestivalA fun-filled day of jugglers, unicyclists, live music and more await your family at this year’s Groundhog Day Jugglers Festival. This festival lasts all weekend long, from Friday, February 1 to Sunday, February 3. However, Saturday, February 2 is the main event of this festival, as activities such as free juggling lessons and shows are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. This festival will be held at the Yaarab Shrine Center Recreation Building in Atlanta.

Bear Hollow Zoo – Located in Athens-Clarke County, the Bear Hollow Zoo will hold their FREE annual Groundhog Day celebration on Saturday, February 2 from 10 a.m. to noon. This family event will have crafts, refreshments, stories and a weather prediction by ‘Gus the Woodchuck.’ The event will also serve as an aluminum can drive for the zoo’s Cans for Critters program.

No matter whether our furry friends (or jugglers) make a forecast predication for six more weeks of winter or a fast approaching spring, now is the ideal time to begin searching for your new home before spring madness ensues! Make your spring cleaning list and get started by tidying up your home. Then, take a break and begin the search for your new home online. With a plethora of excellent Atlanta area homebuilders to choose from, finding your new home will be a piece of cake! Happy house hunting and happy Groundhog Day!
