The Remodelers Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) is calling all grill masters to battle it out for bragging rights in the Second Annual Battle of the BBQ. Scheduled for Aug. 21, 2014, the battle will begin at 4 p.m. at the GAHBA offices in Tucker.
Participants can enter any BBQ items for judging no matter if it is chicken, pork or beef because the secret is in the sauce. An award for the Best Sauce & Grill Master will be given to the winner, which is voted on by members of the Remodelers Council.
Need a little something extra to kick up your sauce? Here are some tips:
- Fruits – Have you ever thought about adding a little sweetness to your sauce with fruit? Mangos, peaches, strawberries, apricots, apples and more have all been used to add a little pizzazz to BBQ.
- Peppers – Bring the heat when you add peppers to your BBQ sauce. From habanera to chipotle chili peppers, there are a variety of options for adding some spice to your sauce.
- Alcohol – Bourbon, whisky and rum all add that surprise pop of flavor that might just put your sauce on top.
- Cinnamon – Cinnamon is not just for dry rubs, it is also a great addition to a BBQ sauce.
No matter the “secret” that makes you sauce the best, the various options and surprising flavors are what make BBQ a favorite among diners. Think you have the winning sauce? Prove it, but you will want to act fast. With limited space available, time is quickly running out. Grillers must register by July 31, 2014. For more information, email Janel Grant at email@example.com or call 678-775-1446.
Following the Battle of the BBQ, attendees are encouraged to stay for a roundtable discussion. Registration for this event will be available soon.
