Sharp Residential to Sponsor ‘Music for Megan’

Sharp Residential’s main focus may be home building, but President Tom Sharp also has a strong interest in helping others in need. On September 28, the Inaugural Music for Megan Charity Benefit Event will take place at Wills Parks Equestrian Center in Alpharetta to raise money for The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. Laura Sheridan and her daughter MeganThe event is being held in honor of Megan Sheridan, a young girl who has been diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, and Sharp is proud to be a Copper Sponsor for the event. Tickets for Music for Megan are $15 per person or $35 for a family pass, and all proceeds will go to The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. Tickets may be purchased by visiting www.meganshope.org. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a concert by Todd Fields and Steve Thomason will begin at 8:00 p.m. There will also be games and great food for the whole family to enjoy. Four year old Megan was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 16 months. There are currently no proven treatments or a cure for mitochondrial disease - a genetic disorder that impairs the workings of the mitochondria which are the parts of the cell that create the energy the body needs to function. Megan’s disease has caused her to have developmental delay, muscle weakness, gastrointestinal problems, speech and feeding difficulties, heat intolerence, slow growth, sensory processing disorder, and severe gastroesophageal reflux. In addition to Megan, about 100,000 children have been diagnosed with the disease.
