Carl Seville, an Atlanta area-based green builder, educator, and consultant, will serve as the sponsor coordinator for the 2008 Southern Building Show Showcase House. The Southern Building Show, scheduled June 11-13, at the Cobb Galleria Exhibition Center in the Northwest Atlanta metro area, is the south’s premier event for builders, remodelers, and design professionals. A highlight of the show, which features exhibits and seminars, is the Showcase House, featuring the latest green building techniques and products. The 2008 Showcase House, EcoLumina, which has broken ground just outside Atlanta in Sandy Springs, is a demonstration house for green building technology. The unique home, being constructed by The Hoots Group, will consume far fewer resources than even many smaller homes. Serving as an educational tool for building professionals as well as consumers, green building features will be incorporated throughout the project.

This will be the fourth annual Showcase Home for the Southern Building Show, and Seville has been involved in each one. He was the creator or the Southern Building Showcase home concept and served as the contractor for the 2005 Showcase EarthCraft Renovation Project and as the sponsor coordinator for the 2006 New and Renew Showcase Homes. He served as the contractor for the 2007 Showcase Home, and now returns to the position of sponsor coordinator. The 2008 house will be the first of the showcase homes to be LEED certified, a certification program of the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System, is a nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. Sponsorships at a variety of levels of donation are available to manufacturers of building products. The sponsors’ products will be installed in the home and will be demonstrated during the show. In addition to exposure to the 7000 building professionals who will be touring the house, sponsors are offered inclusion in the show brochure, website coverage, and media coverage. Recently announced sponsors include Kohler, Rinnai, Superior Walls, and Sustainable Home. For more information about EcoLumina and sponsorship opportunities, visit http://www.ecolumina.org.
