Senator Isakson Addressed Park Springs Members on Healthcare
On September 3, over 200 seniors at Park Springs were addressed by U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson. This was a great experience for members since they could get healthcare information first hand from Isakson, as well as ask their own personal questions at the end of his address. Discussion and questions followed a wide variety of topics but mainly focused on health care, since this is a hot topic for Park Springs residents.
Isakson shared his thoughts on wellness as the best way to reduce health care costs. This was very relevant to Park Springs residents considering wellness is part of the philosophy of the community where nutritious meal plans and a variety of exercise options are offered. Residents were quite surprised when Isakson mentioned that one out of four healthcare providers does not accept Medicare. However this was not something that caused worry to Park Spring’s residents since they have their own Medicare Certified Geriatrician on site.
Isakson also spoke about other popular topics that interested the audience including the economy, social security and foreign relations. After speaking, Isakson opened the floor for more than an hour of questions and discussion over the uninsured, Tort Reform, the recent “Tea Party” protests and more. This was Senator Isakson’s second visit to Park Springs this year.
