Sam Zell Gives His Opinons on Real Estate

sam-zell.jpgSam Zell was interviewed on CNBC’s Squawk Box in late February, and he voiced many opinions about the housing market, the economy and more. As a real estate entrepreneur, Zell is incredibly well knowledged in real estate trends and has made most of his billions of dollars through his expertise in the real estate industry. Zell could very well be the most relevant authority figure in the real estate industry, and even if you do not agree that he is brilliant, his predictions and opinions are almost always right. So, what did Sam Zell have to way in this CNBC interview? Basically, there were two key points made:

  • The housing market will begin its recovery phase this spring, meaning that those interested in buying a home need to go ahead and act now
  • Since we have yet to have a first quarter of negative growth and a recession is two quarters of negative growth by definition, we are obviously not in a recession

In summary, rumors of a recession are not validated and the real estate market is going to take a turn. Just as Atlanta Real Estate Forum has been reporting, the spectacular buyer incentives and interest rates are going to produce a spurt in sales, and once that happens, the buyer’s market will begin to diminish. As for things regarding the economy and so-called recession, other than the newspaper business, many industries are seeing strong sales and lots of activity.
