Planning Ahead Helps Your Children Avoid the “Sandwich Generation”

Do you finding yourself trapped in the middle between taking care of your children and caring for your parents who are now to old to live alone? Welcome to the “Sandwich Generation.” Today’s baby boomers find themselves in the “Sandwich Generation” and the stress of taking care of their family is proving to them that planning is key to making sure their children avoid the tug-of-war between taking care of their parents, and caring for their own kids. In an attempt to take the stress off of their kids, Baby Boomers are looking into active adult communities that will provide them with everything they need as they age.

Isakson Living an Atlanta-based home builder focuses on designing communities that will assist seniors as they go from independent living to assisted living to needing full-time medical care if necessary. Park Springs, Isakson Living’s Stone Mountain retirement community, offers a variety of housing options designed to meet the needs of the residents who live there. Those leading an active lifestyle will enjoy a variety of amenities including a fitness center with lap pool, clubhouse, dining options, walking trails, private access to Stone Mountain Park and more. For those needing assistance, assisted living is available as well as full-time care provided in Cobblestone. As your need change you can change homes, but you don’t have to leave Park Springs to get the care that you need.

Isakson Living’s Peachtree Hills Place community provides seniors with a luxurious retirement community located in Buckhead. As with Park Springs, Peachtree Hills Place offers a continuum of care to its residents. Upon completion the community will offer a plethora of amenities as well as a variety of health services including a medicare-certified clinic headed by a doctor trained as a geriatrician, home health services, assisted living options and The Terraces, an on-site health center. Those living in The Terraces will feel comfortable with a home set-up that includes a common living room and a dining room for six.

Some senior living facilities are institutional and uncomfortable, but at an Isakson Living community you will feel comfortable and right at home. Plan where you are going to live, don’t leave that decision to your children.

  1. Interesting article about one good option for many of us in the Baby Boomer Generation. It can also be useful info for those providing senior home care for aging parents, who also have to work, travel, etc. and need a safe place for their aging parents when they are away. Thanks for the info :)
