Retiring in Today’s Economy: What Do You Need to Know?
Earlier this month, Park Springs hosted a panel discussion to address the benefits of preparing for retirement in today’s economy. Led by Ruthann Lacey, one of only five Certified Elder Law Attorneys in Georgia; Roger Tutterow, professor of Economics at Mercer University and John Hunt, president and founder of the New Home Buyer, a company that creates the New Home Buyer Report for the Atlanta market, the discussion also spoke to the positive signs we are seeing in the economy. Some of those signs include:
- Home prices bottomed out
- Re-sales are starting to recover
- We are seeing appreciation in home value for the first time since 2006
- Employment levels are starting to rise again.
Ruthann also discussed the steps seniors need to take to ensure that they have successful and peaceful retirement. These steps included:
- Preparing a Last Will and Testament
- Having Durable Financial Power of Attorney
- Having Durable Advance Directive for Health Care
- Knowing how you plan to pay for long term health care
