Oakland Park is a ULI Excellence Award Finalist!

Congratulations to the LEED Certified Atlanta condo development Oakland Park as it was recently named a finalist in the Atlanta district council of the Urban Land Institute’s 2008 Development of Excellence awards competition. This is an extraordinary honor for Oakland Park because the Development of Excellence awards are given to projects that are exceptional examples of good development. Maybe it’s because Oakland Park is the first LEED Certified multi-family housing project in Atlanta or the fact that the location of the development is along the Memorial Drive revitalization district or perhaps a combination of many factors, but, any way you look at it, there is no denying the fact that there are many reasons that Oakland Park is an exceptional example of a good development.

The awards ceremony is going to be an amazing event you won’t want to miss. Be sure to attend to see if Oakland is named a winner. The annual awards banquet will be held at the Georgia Aquarium on September 18, 2008.

Allow me to emphasize how extraordinary Oakland Park is and why it stands out among other condo developments in Atlanta real estate: according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Smart Growth Network, there is a growing concern that the latest development trend is not in the long-term interest of communities. Smart growth invests time, attention and resources in restoring community and vitality to abandoned center cities and older suburbs. Smart growth is also town-centered,  transit and pedestrian oriented and has a mix of land uses and preserves open space and many other environmental amenities. Oakland Park is a perfect example of smart growth. Oakland Park is an urban infill, mixed-use residential and commercial project that has become a catalyst for change within the neighborhood, providing opportunities for new businesses and a place for residential and retail to come together in a convenient, self-contained urban setting close to the amenities that downtown Atlanta and the surrounding neighborhood offer. Oakland Park is definitely deserving on a Development of Excellence award.
