Oakland Park Gains National Attention
Atlanta’s newest mixed-use residential condominium and commercial project, Oakland Park, is already gaining national attention for its commitment to green building and great design. The community has been named a finalist in two national sustainable awards programs, including Environmental Design + Construction’s (ED+C) “Excellence in Design” and Multi-Housing News’ “The Design Excellence Awards.” Oakland Park is also Atlanta’s first LEED Silver certified multi-family building, meaning that it has met the qualifications of being a more energy efficient construction site that has sent little waste to a landfill, and that the building is a high performance building that will use less energy over time. Oakland Park is a strong candidate for these awards based on their resourceful use of land, great reuse of property and preservation or enhancement of environmental resources. The community’s strong sense of great design comes from the exceptional interior and exterior architecture as well as from the overall composition of both the aesthetic and functional elements . Oakland Park is not only being talked about for its beautiful condos, but also because it has brought change to the Grant Park area. Oakland Park will provide new opportunities for businesses and a place for residential and retail to come together in a great urban setting near downtown Atlanta. Some of the great energy efficient features of the Oakland Park homes include bamboo floors, low-emittance windows, eco-friendly tile and paint and even high-performance plumbing fixtures. These new Atlanta homes will be one and two bedroom plans with open floorplans and lots of upgrades.
