Cities of Lights: November Tree Lighting Ceremonies

SantaEach year communities gather around town centers to celebrate the holiday season at their local tree-lighting festivals. This year’s metro-Atlanta tree lighting ceremonies will begin in Dunwoody with the Light up Dunwoody celebration. Join friends, family and neighbors at The Farmhouse on Sunday, November 22 at 4 p.m. for the holiday parade and tree lighting ceremony. Children will be able to play at the North Pole playground, while the older generations shop for Christmas presents at the Shops of Dunwoody.

After packing on the pounds at Thanksgiving dinner, residents of Lawerenceville, Locust Grove and Flowery Branch might want to take part in their local celebrations, all of which will be held that evening.

The Lawerenceville festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. With carriage rides, self-guided tours of the decorated courthouse and a special appearance by Santa, this celebration is one the whole family will enjoy.

Locust Grove residents  might plan on attending the tree lighting at 7:00 p.m. at Locust Grove City Hall. Attendees of this annual event will be able to enjoy music while waiting for Santa to come out to say hello and take pictures with all of the children.

Head over to the Flowery Branch Depot at 5:45 p.m.  for this magical celebration. This holiday tree lighting ceremony will feature a brass ensemble, prayer service and a choir performance by local townspeople and is sure to be an unforgettable evening.

  2. Thanks Dina! I think we are going to be adding more to the list for early December as well. Seems there are LOTS of trees to decorate. I need some sushi and hot chocolate – do those go together?
